Fiedler Deutsch, LLP settled a Maritime case against a well known boat operator. Our client was injured when she tripped and fell on a chord that was dangerously laid across a deck of a party boat. We sued the boats owner in New York State Supreme Court alleging negligence. The owner of the boat started a maritime action in federal court in the Southern District of New York seeking limitation and exoneration of liability under the federal maritime laws. After successfully responding to the defendants federal maritime action, the case was permitted to proceed in New York State Supreme Court where a fantastic resolution of $500,000 was reached for our client who had broken her ankle and required surgery to repair.
If you or a loved one has been involved in an accident on a boat call us to discuss your potential case. Federal maritime laws are complex and require the knowledge and experience of a firm like ours to handle. We are here to help.
